I love it when I can give my students an opportunity to take ownership of their own learning. It’s even better when they realize the skills that they are learning make a better world for not only them, but everybody. That is why I want to integrate EcoRise and their sustainability education program into our classroom this year.

EcoRise Youth Innovations inspires a new generation of leaders to design a sustainable future for all. Their school based program empowers youth to tackle real-world challenges in their schools and communities by teaching sustainability, design innovation, and social entrepreneurship. EcoRise develops the next generation of creative problem solvers by enlivening conventional classrooms with academically-aligned K-12 curriculum that introduce students to environmental literacy, social innovation and hands-on design skills. Green professionals serve as guest speakers and project mentors to help students solve real-world sustainability challenges concerning energy, water, waste, transportation, air quality, food and public spaces.

This is an amazing opportunity for my amazing students to develop skills that will directly impact the quality of their community.
