The Description

With these funds I will...

Be able to purchase 2 39\" 1080p HDTV Vizio Smart TVs (view here) for our public corridors on campus.

Students at KIPP Houston High School are undoubtedly hard-working. With about ten hours of their day spent on campus, students and teachers alike are exhausted by days end, but you wouldn’t be able to tell by the amount of grit and enthusiasm everyone exemplifies. As a way to celebrate this rigor and positivity, we need to provide a campus that mirrors 21st century college-campuses around the country. Right now, our campus lacks the space and technology that college campuses exemplify. We feel this is important because:

  1. by providing this for students, they are better prepared for “college-life” and
  2. it provides a happy and comfortable place for them.

If students are happy, they certainly perform better and enjoy the place where they spend the majority of their waking hours. Next year, we hope to transfer our common-space into a 21st century study area - a space that not only students benefit from academically but a space that they are also proud of and enjoy.

Back Up Plan

we will use the funds raised for one TV. If we don’t reach that amount, we will use the funds for more calculators in our classrooms.

About the Creator

Born and raised in the same community that my students live in, I was lucky to have adults in my life that pushed me to be where I am today. Because of my parents and teachers, I can proudly say I am a Duke graduate and TFA alum. I want to be the adult in the life of my students who pushes them, so that their futures are not determined by the zip code they live in.
