DePue STEM lab

The Description

With these funds I will buy materials for my STEM lab. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. These materials include hand tools, drills, wood, circuits, electronics, and Rokenbok kits. Currently I do not have any materials for my lab besides iPads. With the materials, In this class, students will learn basic circuitry and basic robotics as well as how to use basic hand tools. Students will have a supervised space to creatively think and build according to set criteria for each project. For each unit, students will be taught how to use common tools and materials in able for them to satisfy the objective.

A large majority of the money would be going to purchasing the Rokenbok Kits. These kits cost $2,400. Rokenbok Education starts with fundamental concepts like how to make things strong and make things move. Children then explore more challenging STEM concepts such as mechanical engineering, 3D printing, & programmable robotics.

The rest of the money will be used to buy hand drills costing around $25 a piece. I will need 4, one for each group. Along with materials for the electronics unit, which includes copper tape, alligator clips, batteries, and wires. I would like to spend around $100 for all of these materials. Any remaining money will be spent on purchasing wood.

I plan to purchase the hand tools, drills, and electronic unit materials from Harbor Freight. The wood will be purchased from a local lumber yard.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase... the hand tools and wood using my $100 classroom budget.
