The Description

As a teacher I am responsible for my very own classroom! I engage daily with my students and their families, and it is my responsibility to ensure that my classroom is a welcoming environment for everyone. One of the biggest challenges is making sure that all of my students have the materials they need to participate in class daily. This is especially important at the beginning of the school year, when we set the tone for how important it is for everyone to be a part of our classroom community.

To get the year started off right, I will use the funds that I raise to purchase the supplies needed to welcome my students back to their classroom that is clean and stocked full with materials. This will allow me to provide the required supplies to students that otherwise would not have them. I will also purchase a few accessories (snare drum stand, trumpet mouthpiece, etc.) to ensure that all instrument donations are fully functional and accessible to students.

PledgeCents allows me to keep whatever I raise, so anything you can contribute really will make a difference in our classroom. As always, I want to make a great impression and a lasting impact on my group of students and letting them know that they have a community that supports them both near and far will definitely get us on the right track. Here is a complete list of the materials that your generous investment will help provide:

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students (pencils, paper, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons.

August 18, 2017

Dear GSA band supporters,

Thank you so much for your generous support of the GSA band program! This project is fully funded and I will be able to order the supplies this weekend and have them in plenty of time for the beginning of school. If you want to see what the band has been up to the last year, check out our website at gsamusic.weebly.com. I will be doing my best to keep it updated throughout the school year so you can see the impact your donations are making.

With gratitude,

Rachel

About the Creator

I have been teaching in Baltimore City for 4 years. For my first 3 years, I taught 7/8th grade math, coached our middle school track team, served as the 8th grade team leader for a year, and organized the 8th grade field trips and activities. I then moved to Greet Street Academy where I started a brand new instrumental music and band program. I am excited to give more students the opportunity to play instruments as our program continues to grow this year. I hope that giving kids access and exposure to as many diverse opportunities as possible will spark their interest in the world around them.
