Get LIT: Freshman Forty Book Challenge

The Description

I have been granted the opportunity to teach Freshman literature at Legacy Early College High School, a free public charter high school with a high population of underserved students. As a transformative educator, it is my duty to provide scholars with a culturally relevant education that will help them be successful post graduation. I want to increase my scholar's love for reading by providing current culturally relevant texts that reflect their identities and communities, but we need your help. Each generous donation you provide will help place a book in my scholars' hands to help them meet our forty book challenge requirement for the 2019-2020 school year.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I plan to purchase as many titles for our classroom and continue to rely on the generosity of family, friends, and community members.

About the Creator

I am excited to be a part of the TFA family and join the movement to solve education inequity in this country and provide all students with a quality education. I'm fortunate enough to be selected from a nationwide talent applicant pool to join a teacher corps comprised of leaders who commit a minimum of two years to teach in high need public schools. This summer I will be participating in an intensive skill and knowledge development program aiming to increase student achievement as well as a comprehensive professional development program including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content and professional learning communities specific to teaching license areas. I can't wait for my first year with Teach for America.
