The Description

At Chavez High School we strive to give our students a professional experience in theatre. This year we are the only HISD School to participate in the Tommy Tune Awards (a prestigious high school musical awards show). As a school with 84% of our population receiving free or reduced lunch, we face significant budget difficulties not felt by other schools in the competition. One of the best parts of the musical Chicago is the jazz-centered score, and the licensing agreement requires the use of a live band. This is a great experience for the students, but it is also very costly. To that end, we are seeking funds to pay for a live band, costumes, set building, and lighting equipment.

Let's raise $5000 by Black Friday!

Back Up Plan

We will use all funds donated for the production of "Chicago." This could include paying the band, building sets, and creating costumes or props. Every dollar counts in this theatre department, where we turn trash into a 1920's speakeasy every day!

OH MY GOSH!!!! I was just working on choreography for the "Roxie" number and decided to check on our cause. WE MADE IT! Thank you all so much for supporting us with funds and with sharing our story. I'm going to tell the kids tomorrow, and they'll flip! Thanksgiving is happening for me right now.

Bravo! I really don't have $$ to give (I actually just had to do my own GoFundMe for an emergency). However, I would be willing to donate time or props. I can help make / paint sets, I actually have a flapper costume and am sure I could come up with other items. I can paint, I'm a photographer, document production, or just some time.
