Sensational Sensory Room for Elementary Students

The Description

Whispering Forest's goal is to create a Multi-Sensory room for all special needs students, early childhood students, and students with behavioral needs. We were lucky enough to be awarded a grant from the Christopher Douglas Hidden Angels Foundation for half of the overall room cost. Whispering Forest now has to raise the other half before April 30, 2019. Because we are trying to raise such a large amount of funds, this fundraiser is being broken into smaller parts. Any funds earned from PledgeCents will be used to purchase and install equipment for the sensory room. This room will be used for a variety of purposes which can be tailored to meet student's individual needs. These purposes include, but are not limited to problem solving, sensory processing and integration, socialization, communication, decision making, fine and gross motor development, cognitive development, relaxation, and stimulation. On the school's campus we have a room available, but need monetary support. The sensory room will directly benefit approximately 500 students on our campus. When students are in the room they will be free to explore as they wish while having their individual needs met. Students will also use the room with their class, or in a group therapy setting such as speech or occupational therapy. The room will include such items as bubble tubes, special lighting, soft matting and rocker chairs, vibroacustic water beds, and interactive projectors. Below are some examples of what these Multi-Sensory rooms look like. These rooms are an extremely innovative way to meet our student's needs, and will be the very first of its kind in St. Tammany Parish. Thank you in advance for your donation!

Back Up Plan

Any and all funds earned through this fundraiser will be used to purchase and install sensory room equipment. If we do not earn the full amount of the fundraiser we plan to do more fundraisers through PledgeCents, as well as school fundraisers, and grant writing. We hope to meet our overall goal on or before the deadline of April 30, 2019 and make this room a reality for our students. We will not give up until our Multi-Sensory room is complete!
