The Description

With these funds I will purchase 4 standing desks to help students have more options about where and how to work within our classroom. Many of us know how uncomfortable it can be to sit in a seat for hours at a time. Students in most schools do that all day long! With these standing desks, the students in my classroom will have an alternative to this.

Instead of sitting in a chair throughout the day, they will be able to use the standing desks to take a break and stretch their legs, back, neck, etc. This will hopefully make it easier for them to relax and concentrate throughout the course of the day. Instead of dreading a long, boring day at school, it is my hope that my students will come to school each day excited and looking forward to all of the choices they have within our classroom!

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase fewer standing desks, based on the amount of funds raised. The goal is for students to have options about where to work within our classroom. If this needs to be achieved with only 1 or 2 standing desks, then that is where we will start. We can always try to add more at a later time.

About the Creator

I have taught elementary school for 12 years, commuting 20+ minutes both ways. The past 5 years I have served in a curriculum role for my district. I am excited to return to a classroom this fall in a school within my local community (no commute!) and put into practice all I have learned while out of the classroom.
