The Description

With these funds I will...offset the cost of attending the Florida State Air Force JROTC Drill Team Championships at the University of Central Florida on March 21st 2015. The charter bus that is required cost $995 and the entry fee is another $150. The remaining funds will go to lunch and dinner on that day for 19 cadets. Our Drill Team was unable to attend the State competition last year for unnamed reasons, and this year we will attend the State competition, and if we perform well, we will attend the National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 3rd.

Being on the Drill Team creates esprit-de-corps within our unit, high school, and community. Our Drill Team leaders are also leaders within our corps and our high school. We volunteer many service hours helping our community; we set a record last year of 4,300 hours of comminity service. Drill Team members learn responsibility, perseverance over adversity, dedication, discipline, teamwork, time management and management of resources.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Have a great Air Force Day!

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, we will still go to the State Championships.  We will have to charge the students up to $50 each for the transportation, and they will need to bring money for their food that day. Keep in mind that our school has a population that approximatley 70% are Title I students. I imagine my cadets proportion of Title I participants are equal to the schools.

We sent 2 teams, a Color Guard and an Unarmed Drill Team to the Florida State Championships. Each team competed in 4 categories. Our Unarmed Drill Team captured 3 trophy's including a 1st, a 2nd and a 4th place trophy. Which earned them the Drill Team Excellence trophy! This means they were the best Unarmed Drill Team in Florida! Thanks to all those who helped support the teams.
