With these funds I will...The teacher choose the book "A Child Called It" because it's a true story of a boy who is abused by his mother. Unfortunately, at our school, many of the students can relate to the story. This book is a non-fiction text that starts and finishes with a shock. It grabs the attention of the students and they can't put it down. This is also the first book of four. After reading this book many of the students want to get the next one, and before she knew it they were all reading for joy. Not only is it great to see them reading on their own for fun, but the more they read the higher their vocabulary gets and their reading level. They will be reading this book in whole group as a class. At the end they will have deep and meaningful talks about the book and the implications of what happened to him. I am looking to get 20 copies at $10 each for a total of $200.
