The Description

With these funds I will have Carolyn Leap from the Houston Museum of Natural Science present Science on Stage which is an interactive demonstration with help from student volunteers. This thrilling engagement aims to get students more interested in chemistry. Carolyn Leap was the 2012 Educator of the Year awarded by the Texas Association of Museums. This type of event will directly impact all my students as they are taken outside of the science classroom to see a presentation that has ties to the classroom. I have different types of learners in my classroom and most are visualize. What better way to include that than by having someone show them how chemistry is applicable to their everyday life?

My students deserve this resource because they are hard-working, intelligent, and inquisitive. My goal is to show students that science can be fun and engaging. I also want them to see the real-world connection. I have a great relationship with my students and offering opportunities such as this only increase the power of that teacher-student relationship. I want my students to see what science is all about while focusing on chemistry in particular.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will do fundraisers to raise the remaining balance of the $375. My students deserve to see how applicable chemistry is to real life.
