With these funds I will buy books for my classroom library.  Our school is running a campaign called, "Quest to a Million".  The goal is for our student body to read one million pages of books by the end of the year.  Having more classroom novels will enable greater student choice when selecting a book for them to read. With greater choice comes more of a buy-in from the students.  This should lead to more reading, and more reading will lead to increased test scores by the years end.

$100 dollars will buy anywhere from 10-15 novels for my classroom.

The novels will all be teen books, and they will all be in multiple genres.  The goal is to provide a variety of genres for students so they have multiple types of stories to choose from.  Also, special attention is paid to diversity in the main characters of the books.

For example, "Joyride" is a book I hope to purchase with the funds. It features a Mexican-American main character.  "Lies We Tell Ourselves" is a novel that features an African-American main character, and it takes place during the 1960's civil rights movement.
