Dayna was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Arnold Chiari Malformation at the age of 6, after an accident at school resulted in a trip to the E.R. She suffered from pain all throughout her life, but doctors insisted that she was simply experiencing growing pains. Following her diagnosis of severe R.A., Dayna began an intense regimen of Celebrex, Methotrexate, Enbrel, and Omeprazole. Never one to stay down, she continued thriving in elementary school as an Honor Roll student, Student Council member, and remained active in school plays. Eventually, Dayna’s R.A. resisted treatment and her Gallbladder shut down, resulting in the first of many surgeries to come. By 13 years old, Dayna had already been through numerous treatments, hospital stays, procedures, tests, and surgeries. After some time her condition worsened and she eventually found herself in Arnold Palmer Hospital for months, leading to her diagnosis of Pseudotumor Cerebri. Since then, Dayna has had numerous illnesses, including a history of Gastroparesis, Seizures, and Cortisol Deficiency. She is currently on a Hospital/Homebound school program and focusing on her academics and her foundation. 

One night during a long inpatient hospital stay, Dayna and her mom were reflecting on their situation. With insurance only covering so much, medical bills left the family with nothing left to keep the lights on in their home. Believing that no one should go through these experiences alone, they came up with the idea to start a foundation. The foundation initially began to help Dayna receive the medical treatment she needed. However, Dayna had a bigger dream. She wanted to make sure there was awareness for these diseases and that no one ever felt like they were alone in their fight. It became our foundation’s mission to not only ensure Dayna got the medical treatment she needed, but that other children like her could be taken care of, too.

In 2016, we were fortunate enough to donation $3,000 worth of toys and care kits to the children of Arnold Palmer Hospital. This year, we hope to make an even bigger impact with our local toy drive and provide more help for chronically ill children. With your help, we can make Dayna's dreams of helping other kids like her a reality.
