The Description

With these funds I will...pay Classroom Champions (non-profit mentorship program) $1,000 to sponsor another primary grade classroom in the program.  The program pairs an elite athlete mentor (Olympian or Paralympian) with a classroom of students to build relationships and teach valuable social-emotional skills through video lessons and live video chats.  The program would be even more effective if I could have other grade level teaching partners join me in the program. 

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase...recommended books that are connected to social emotional skills and character traits that are taught as monthly topics (such as perseverance and goal setting) within the framework of the Classroom Champions program.

About the Creator

I am a specialist teacher for English Language Development at a Title 1 school in Medford, Oregon. I am passionate about integrating the teaching of social emotional skills throughout engaging classroom learning activities. I believe that all students need caring adults who believe in them. All students deserve a high quality education in order to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and creators now and in the future. I am a Classroom Champions Teacher Ambassador. Classroom Champions is a mentorship program that pairs my classroom with an elite athlete mentor who builds relationships with the students through technology and provides video lessons to help teach important social-emotional/ life skills. I am currently teaching English Language Development in grades K-5 and am seeking funding to help engage my students in a service learning project that will help better our community.
