Preparing for My Second Graders!

The Description

As a few of you know already, I recently made the move to Oklahoma for my new job with Teach For America. I've already had the opportunity to teach and learn from some amazing first graders this summer and am beyond excited to have an energized room full of second graders in just under a month from now!

It is so important to me to be able to provide my students with the best resources because I know each of them deserves the very best education. I want to be the best teacher possible for each and every one of them. I know everyone has their own goals they are working on. If you would like to make a contribution to my goal to support me in ensuring my classroom is fully prepared to provide my students with the best education possible, it would be genuinely appreciated and utilized in the class this coming year!

I'm sure many of you have some amazing advice or words of wisdom from your experiences as well and this type of contribution would be appreciated just as much! I would love to hear your tips and tricks so that I can be as effective of a leader in my classroom as I've seen many of you lead in your chosen paths.

Thank you in advance for support in any way! I look forward to hearing about any experiences you feel willing to share :)

Back Up Plan

Right now, I am really focusing on making sure I have as many books as possible in my classroom. Each of my students will have different interests and, if they haven't already, I want each and every one of them to have the chance to fall in love with reading. Being able to read opens up so many opportunities for students, so books are an essential for our classroom this fall.

About the Creator

I am excited to be a part of the TFA family and join the movement to solve education inequity in this country and provide all students with a quality education. I'm fortunate enough to be selected from a nationwide talent applicant pool to join a teacher corps comprised of leaders who commit a minimum of two years to teach in high need public schools. This summer I will be participating in an intensive skill and knowledge development program aiming to increase student achievement as well as a comprehensive professional development program including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content and professional learning communities specific to teaching license areas. I can't wait for my first year with Teach for America.
