Building The Foundation: Startup Classroom Supplies

The Description
After completing Teach for America’s - 2017 Dallas-fort-worth Institute I will be responsible for my very own classroom! I can't wait to decorate and meet my students and their families. One of the biggest hurdles that students in high need schools face is a lack of the necessary materials that are needed daily. It makes it infinitely more difficult for students to take part in activities and classwork when they do not have basic supplies.
To get the year started off right, I will use the funds that I raise to purchase the startup supplies needed to welcome my students to a classroom that is clean and stocked full with materials. This will allow me to provide the required supplies to students that otherwise would not have them. I will also purchase copy paper to ensure that I can provide my students with high quality learning materials, whether that is exit tickets, independent activities, or homework. Thank you so much in advance for supporting me and my students at the beginning of this exciting journey.
PledgeCents allows me to keep whatever I raise, so anything you can contribute really will make a difference for my first year. I want to make a great impression and a lasting impact on my first group of students and letting them know that they have a community that supports them both near and far will definitely get us on the right track. Dear Investing friends,
Wow! I am so thankful for the overwhelming amount of support I have received as I enter my first year of teaching! I am so thankful for each and everyone of you. To give you an idea of my school this upcoming fall, I will be working at the Leadership Academy at Forest Oak, one of five Fort Worth schools undergoing transformative change to create a positive school culture, put relationships with our students first, build college and career ready students for life and raise test scores. As I finish my last day of Teach For America institute today, I prepare to enter continued professional development through Fort Worth ISD on Monday. I will continue training, seeking resources and preparing my classroom for the first day of school up until August 21st when my students walk in the front doors of our leadership academy. After August 21st, my training will continue throughout the school year and my entire teaching career. Thank you for believing in me and the power of my students. As I continue this incredible journey I hope to "pass the mic" as my students use and develop their voices to call for change and equity in our country.
Thank you for engaging in this journey with me and investing in my students' and my own success!
My Best,
Kelsey
