The Description

With these funds I will add valuable phonics, alphabet letter, and word recognition games and activities for my first graders.  I desire for my students to practice these reading related skills during our Center Time.  Once students are taught the directions of the game or activity, they will be able to collaboratively complete them with the students in their group.  It is important for me to find skill level appropriate, engaging, and fun practice activities for my children to engage in.  While my students are rotating and completing work at each center, I will be conducting a guided reading meeting with a small group of students.  It is important that my readers receive my attention and guidance during their guided reading instructional time.  Below are the materials I intend on integrating into the centers.  Note, all of the requested materials are available from Lakeshore Learning Company.

If I do not meet my goal I will purchase some of these materials with my own money.  I will also pay closer attention to Varage Sale, Craigslist, Swap Shops, etc. seeing if any of these materials become available for second hand purchase.

My name is Fatima Madondo and I was born and raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina. In 2000, I moved to Jefferson City, Missouri. This is my fifth year of teaching The past four years I taught third grade. This year I am embracing new learning adventures as a first grade teacher! I have a passion for teaching and learning.
