The Description

With these funds I will subscribe my class to Edublogs.org for a whole year.

An edublog is a blog created for educational purposes. Edublogs archive and support student and teacher learning by facilitating reflection, questioning by self and others, and by providing contexts for engaging in higher-order thinking.

I have used extensively an edublog for the past three years with excellent results. My students interact with me from home or in the classroom using laptops or iPads. Blog discussions elevate the level of understanding and challenge the students to reasoning even further. At the same time, the blog is an extremely reliable tool to communicate with parents. Parent’s feedback has always been positive. In so many ways an edublog is the link that connects a teacher with the students and parents.

My students attend a public elementary school that serves more than 900 children. About 200 of them are refugees from fifteen countries around the world. Most of the students received free or reduced lunch.

My students think they can do everything. They love original lessons, hands-on activities, learning in different ways, but above everything, they enjoy technology.

About the Creator

I did not choose to be an educator... Education chose me. However, becoming a teacher is a decision that I will never regret.

Every day I go to work knowing that I can make a difference for some people. I use all my creativity and knowledge to design lessons and activities that inspire young learners. I keep myself updated with their current interests and trends, so I can incorporate them to my planning to ensure engagement. I rely on technology because I know that is what they like and it is the world where we are heading.

At the end of the school year I look back to the learners that I received and the ones that are about to leave my class and I see the reward to my hard work and dedication.

Teaching is more than a job... It is magic.
