With these funds, KIPP DC: Grow Academy's Kindergarten students will go on a field trip to Discovery Theater on the National Mall! We will begin our day by touring the National Air and Space Museum, exploring and learning about astronomy, flight and outer space. Then we will go to the Discovery Theater to see the play \"Tigers, Dragons and Other 'Wise' Tails," an Asian Pacific American Heritage Month show. On our way back to school, we will take a driving tour of the monuments we have studied that are right here in our home, the nation's capitol.

The $600 we hope to raise will go to cover the cost of each student's ticket to the show at Discovery Theater. Tickets are $5 each for our 99 students and 21 parent chaperones. The play we are seeing contains folktales from Korea, Japan and China and coincides with our Country Studies unit, in which each Kindergarten classroom is learning in-depth about one country from around the world. Seeing this show will contribute to broadening the horizons of our students and opening their eyes to our global world.
