With these funds I will purchase a class set of Lorraine Hansberry's classic A Raisin in the Sun. Amazon sells these books for $6 each (http://www.amazon.com/Raisin-Sun-Lorraine-Hansberry/dp/0679755330/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450195914&sr=8-1&keywords=a+raisin+in+the+sun), so I am requesting $120 to purchase 20 books, plus $10 for the fees PledgeCents charges. A Raisin in the Sun will be the core text for our justice unit in American Literature. I chose this play because it is an American classic, it is relevant to society and the issue of justice, and I think my students will be able to relate to it. This is the first drama of the year, so we will look at the elements of drama and different versions of one story, and students will perform group scene presentations.
