The Description
Here at KIPP Austin Connections Elementary School, we pride ourselves in displaying the passions and talents of each student. This year, we are committed to doing so via student-centered learning: In our art studio, our young artists are transitioning to a choice-based curriculum. Students will learn to work and think like an artist, exploring their own ideas and choosing their materials to bring those ideas to life. Students have the chance to work in many different mediums throughout the year including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpting, weaving, sewing, and collage. Each year, we work to help our students display their creations via a school-wide Fine Arts Festival. Each grade is assigned a theme and works to contribute to their community collaborative project by submitting their own personal pieces. In order to ensure that we have all the materials needed for each student’s project, we need to raise the funds to purchase painting supplies (e.g. tempera paint, acrylic paint, brushes, and painting paper), fiber art supplies (e.g. fabric, yarn, needles, wire, ribbon, and string), and sculpture center supplies (e.g. glue, glue gun, wooden sticks, clay, clay tools, wire, and wire snippers).
Back Up Plan
If we do not reach our goal I will purchase the minimum supplies necessary for each studio center.
