Classroom Supplies: Ms. Buchanan's 4th grade class
$568
$568 goal

The Description
As most of you know, I have just graduated with my Bachelor's in Spanish from Texas A&M University, and I have since decided to join the Teach for America San Antonio Corps. I am a part of an incredible network of individuals that are all fighting against educational inequity. I have accepted a position teaching bilingual fourth grade at Graebner Elementary. While I have not yet met my kids, I can already tell you that they're rockstars.
That being said, 93.9% of my students are considered \"economically disadvantaged". (https://schools.texastribune.org/districts/san-antonio-isd/charles-graebner-elementary-school/). With these funds, I will be able to help my students start each day prepared with folders, pencils, binders, etc. I will be able to purchase books for a rich classroom library that gives each student the opportunity to read a book that is suited to their reading level and interests.
School supplies should not be a burden that falls on my students. On average, teachers spend $500+ on school supplies ANNUALLY, and this number only goes up for teachers in largely economically disadvantaged areas. http://time.com/money/4392319/teachers-buying-school-supplies/
ANY AMOUNT HELPS. My students and I thank you for your support :)
Back Up Plan
If we do not reach our goal, I will continue looking for donations and other resources to help my classroom thrive, or I will pay out of pocket to ensure my students have what they need to succeed.
