With these funds I will work with young moms to select appropriate books for our infant/toddler section of the school library.  Students will read & review titles & make suggestions for purchases. In addition, I will work with students to create "lapsit" literacy programs. Students will select appropriate books, puppets, finger plays & songs for a short program for other teen moms & their babies. Students will practice & present their lapsit activities. All students will develop a rubric to help assess & revise the lapsit presentations.

During this project, these young moms will continue to learn the importance of reading, singing & talking to their little ones.

$200 hand & finger puppets (approximately $10 each/20 puppets);

$50 felt for felt story boards;

$550 infant & toddler board books (approximately $10 each/55 alt least one title selected by each participating student).
