5th Grade Literature Study: Night by Elie Wiesel

The Description

As we make a shift into common core instruction, we have been participating in class-wide novel studies.  The novels we have chosen to read with our students have a connection to our basic human rights and how to deal with situations when these rights are being violated.  Earlier this year, we read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan and our students LOVED IT!  Now, we are hoping to begin reading Night by Elie Wiesel - a memoir by a survivor of the Holocaust.  Unfortunately, we have run out of school funds to be able to afford individual copies for our 80 students.  We need only 28 more.  With the funds raised, we will purchase the remainder of copies needed, so each student will be able to have their own.  Of the near 500 students at San Vicente Elementary, almost 96% of them are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged, which is why we are reaching out to you for help.  Please assist us in reaching our goal of $150.00, so we can continue the engaging learning experience of novel studies in our classrooms.  :)

Back Up Plan

If we do not raise the desired $150.00, we will purchase as many copies of the book as we can with the money that is raised, and purchase the rest out of pocket.
