Support the Scientists of Tomorrow

The Description

My educational journey was one of privilege, and it was one afforded to me by the sacrifices my parents made in bringing me to America. Growing up, in every classroom I was in, I took for granted the pencils that were already there and the paper which I used to create airplanes. My educational experience is not a realistic depiction of what a student encounters within the American public school system.

The downright awful reality is how poorly resources are allocated. Educational inequity is not just a trend covered in a demography class; it is the consequence of the system of oppression that we live in. My fight for "one day" as we call it at Teach for America begins in my classroom. Any contribution will help my 9th grade biology students at Spruce High School have the resources they need in order to be active learners and scientists.

I will use the funds I raise to purchase the startup supplies needed to welcome my students to a classroom with an atmosphere in which they can thrive. This will be done with a classroom that is clean and stocked full with materials. This will allow me to provide the required supplies to students that otherwise would not have them. I will also purchase copy paper to ensure that I can provide my students with high quality learning materials, whether that is exit tickets, independent activities, or homework. Thank you all so much for your support.

One day, all students will have access to schools with the same amount of funding, resources, experienced teachers, and the list could go on. Help me reach "one day" by donating today!

I promise every dollar donated will be spent on the supply list enclosed below:

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons.

About the Creator

I am a recent UT Austin graduate, and I have just started my journey with Teach for America! My journey into education was not a direct one, but it is one that has fulfilled me more than I can elaborate upon. If you knew me in college, you can probably imagine my pained-face every time I thought about my future in medicine. Conversely, the light on my face at even the mention of teaching was a brighter reaction.
