With these funds I will...purchase 3 iPad minis with 16 GB & Wi-Fi. On Amazon the cost ranges from $280-$380.

They will be used by my 2nd graders. I believe strongly in the exposer to up to date technology for the students...beyond the latest video game! Currently we have 3 student computers in our room that they have access to using. There is just so much more out there using iPads with the endless possibilities of the apple app store. Our school does not currently use apple products so the iPad minis would give them dual technology proficiency and exposure.

I'd like to use these iPads for creating pod cast to and from my students, QR codes for additional directions within their centers, and both enhancing and re-teaching topics. I dream of them working in cooperative groups making and presenting projects across all areas of the curriculum. For example in science we study bridges, journal about them, design them, and then they are given basic supplies to construct a group bridge. I would use the iPads to extend this unit into finding out more information about the different building designs and history of bridges. Then during a math lesson they could budget the items they plan on using and after the design do a cost comparison to see if they stayed within their budget.

Being a rural title 1 school our students often don't have computer access with internet connections at home. I want to give them all the knowledge I can to get them ready for college. Yes even at the 2nd grade level.
