With these funds we hope to purchase the required resources for our school to implement the Empowering Writers program campus wide.  This program will allow our teachers to provide engaging and effective instruction to help our students become independent writers.  With the tools that this program provides teachers can collaborate together as well as utilize resources that model for them lessons taught in the classroom.  The program allows teachers to access online tools to help students access their prior knowledge on certain topics which then allows them to be more informed writers. These resources will also allow teachers to assess skills taught in various forms as well as monitor students progress throughout a unit.  The Empowering Writers program provides detailed lessons and hands on activities to help support teachers in their writing instruction.  It also helps campuses create and use a universal language when teaching concepts that helps students progress.  Teaching writing is hard even if you are a good writer yourself.  This program gives teachers the confidence to teach writing effectively and provides the appropriate scaffolds for students.
