With these funds I will purchase 30 E books for the nook. Do you remember walking into a class and being told what you have to read and wanting to cry. My high school students are stuck in a reading class and want to read interesting books. These E books will help me give them the joy of reading. I teach 10th grade in a low income school. Many of my students are on low Reading levels and have never finished a book. They are not able to find high interest books in school and therefore don't read. My students want so much to have books in our classroom that would interest them. There is nothing like the feeling of accomplishment when you finish your first book. The books we do get from the school go missing or get torn up after only a few students use them so I am wanting to move to E books. My students have been selling candy to buy nooks and now I need to get E books for them. Many of my students are on a 5th to 9th grade level. My job is to get them to a 10th grade level in time to take our state test at the end of the year. The best way to get them there is to have them read. The problem is that they hate to read and the books I have are not interesting or warn. With these high interest E books my student will want to come to class and enjoy reading. The Reading will increase their vocabulary and test scores. I also want them to learn that reading can be fun when you find the right book. Some E books I would like to get are the Ni-Ni Simon series, Beatrice Sparks Series and "a called it" series along with many more titles.
