Ready for Second Grade!

The Description

Now that I have completed Teach for America’s 2017 DFW Institute, I have been given the amazing opportunity to teach 2nd Grade at Luella Merrett EM in my hometown of Fort Worth. I am super excited for this upcoming school year and how much my students and I will continuously learn and grow together. I know that my students can and will achieve and with your help we'll be able to reach our goals.

One of the biggest hurdles that students in high-need schools face is a lack of the necessary materials. It makes it infinitely more difficult for students to take part in classwork activities when they don't have access to basic supplies. As Luella Merrett serves a student body of which over 87% of students receive free and reduced lunch, this is even more significant to my students.

To get the year started off right, I will use the funds raised to purchase the startup supplies needed to welcome my students to a classroom ready to help them grow. This will allow me to provide the required supplies to many students that would otherwise not have them. .

Anything you can contribute will genuinely make an impact to my students and our classroom. Whether that be monetary, physical, or even emotional support, I welcome it all. This could be seen as any unneeded/extra supplies, rugs, cushions, children's books, classroom decor, tips, advice, and prayers as a first year teacher. I hope to make a lasting impact on my students and letting them know that they have a community that supports them both near and far is an amazing start! Thank you so much in advance for supporting me and my students at the beginning of this exciting journey

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students (pencils, paper, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons.
