The Description

It is so exciting that I get the opportunity to serve elementary students as an art teacher for my very first time! It has been a dream of mine to become an art teacher for quite some time. This year, I am fortunate enough to be serving down in Miami-Dade county. I have the privilege to create my students curriculum, build relationships with each student and their families, as well as provide plenty of art supplies for all 195 of my students! With that being said, I am responsible for most, if not all, of the art supplies that my students will be using this entire year.

This year has already been kicked off to a great start and I am beyond excited to see where this year takes us all. I will use these funds that I raise to purchase plenty of supplies that are very much needed throughout each day for the next year. It is imperative that my students have plenty of materials to get messy with because who would enjoy an art class with little to no materials?! My students look forward to trying new things and expressing themselves through a myriad of supplies, so being fully stocked in everything is a must!

I have been able to get a decent amount of new art materials, but I am working largely with a lot of used or older art materials that have been stored and saved for many years in a hot and steamy Florida garage (yuck!). Most of these materials were not salvageable and we are in dire need of new supplies. I am here to educate and to promote creative learning in my students. With that, I want to be able to reach that goal by providing my students with the materials that are needed so they may seek their highest potential as artists. Here is a complete list of the materials that your investments will help provide for the students I get to see everyday:

Art is my passion and I hope to instill the same passion in my students, especially with showing them my dedication and responsibility to them as artists through the materials I am able to supply them. Thank you so much in advance for supporting me and my students at the beginning of this exciting journey.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase as many supplies as I can! I will be hopeful in parent donations as well as reaching out to local businesses and organizations in seeking help to supply my students with the best materials. I will be sure to prioritize the materials that we do have that are most essential to students (paper, paint, pencils, paint brushes, erasers, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in my art class.

Art Education is an Investment.

November 1, 2017

To my many friends, known and unknown, I am thankful for your time to listen to my story as an art educator.

Art education is vital. Art CAN be taught. Furthermore, it should be taught. So much of life requires creativity. Not just as an artist, but as a business person, a scientist, an engineer…creative thinking is crucial! The arts are always the first thing to be cut from schools struggling financially which always breaks my heart. Yes, we can show our kids how to do all sorts of things, but learning about art, artists and techniques is SO important. This education leads to new discoveries about one’s self and about the world.

Art education is a school value. It is beauty. It is imagination. It is emotion-driven. It is the development and expression of the soul. What better way is there than to spark an interest and fire in a child’s mind at an early age? Children are vulnerable and easily molded to become their own artists. In order to support them in their artistic endeavors, they need supporters like you to help. I appreciate each and every share and investment thus far! Keep on keeping on, these kids deserve the world and more!
