The Description

With these funds I will purchase new assessments to use with my students.  I would like to purchase the Brigance Inventory of Early Development III, Brigance Readiness Activities, Brigance Comprehensive Inventory of Basic Skills II, Transition Skills Inventory, and Transition Skills activities.  My classroom curriculum focuses on project-based/service learning which integrates academics and transition skills.  All of these assessments will provide a whole description (developmental, academic, and transition) of a student's strengths and needs.  These assessments will be utilized to develop goals and objectives for students' individualized education programs (IEPs).  These assessments also are valid and reliable, related to IDEA and state standards, and monitor progress.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase individual assessment materials available with the funds raised.  An alternative purchase would be communication devices to develop students' receptive and expressive language skills.

I am a special educator working with high school age students with multiple disabilities. I teach academics and functional/transition skills. I am also a member of our district's transition team. I recently completed my master's degree in special education with an emphasis on transition services.
