With these funds I will be able to purchase a year-long subscription to the social studies publication, Time for Kids. Not only will this publication serve my own students, but will also serve students in my entire grade level. We will also be able to reuse these publications for many years by laminating and keeping these filed for students in years to come. 

Our students need to learn about current events (age appropriate, of course) that are happening around them. It is difficult to teach students at such a young age about those events. Time for Kids is a wonderful publication that presents these events and other important social studies concepts to kindergarten students in an interesting and age-appropriate manner. Their publication is colorful, with vivid and applicable photographs. They contain a wide array of text features important for students to know and be able to use. It allows to students to interact with it through short answer questions, classroom activities and home connection projects. 

Finding time throughout our busy schedule each week to present students with a meaningful social studies lesson is challenging. Reading and math are the focus and many times, other content falls by the wayside. Time for Kids would allow our teachers the resources for a quick, yet effective and engaging lesson in social studies, that meets our state standards and teaches our students important information. 

Below is a link to the Time for Kids website. Time for Kids is a magazine-like publication that presents social studies content to students in an age-appropriate way. Our goal would be to purchase Time for Kids for our grade level, which would serve approximately 100 students this year, as well as other students in years to come by preserving these publications. The cost for 100 students to have access to this publication is approximately $500. This subscription includes weekly magazines for each student, an interactive whiteboard edition of each magazine, online teaching tools, and printable resources.
