Making Learning an Adventure with Classcraft

The Description
Learning is a process that mirrors an epic adventure in many ways. There are ups and downs, and challenges to overcome. This year I want to integrate Classcraft into my classroom to really engage my students and show them how exciting learning can be. Classcraft is a platform that gamifies the classroom and transforms them into an immersive adventure that take student motivation and collaboration to the next level.
Classcraft puts students in teams so they have to depend on each other to thrive. When school becomes less of an individual experience and more of a collective one, students encourage each other more and start looking out for one another. With Classcraft I am able to award students points for any exemplary classroom behavior whether it is leading a classroom discussion, helping another student through a difficult problem, or working as a team to find a solution. As students earn points, they progress through the game. By giving students powers that help their team and themselves, all of a sudden, being nice to one another and engaging in class takes on a whole new meaning.

Dear Sponsor,
My name is Mrs Tima Dushan and I am an EVO Educational Visits Officer, Science Lead and a Year 6 class teacher. I have been using Classcraft for a month in my classroom, which we find it enjoyable and an engaging way to manage behaviour, encourage teamwork, promote kindness and have fun! I have only had a trial for the basic package, and the class is pleading for me to get a premium package to use some of the other package features.
That is why I am writing to you today. My aim is to make learning highly engaging and fun and hoping you would be kind enough to support me with this request.
Some things my class has loved so far -
- The random daily event. Each morning we start with an event. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is not! Sometimes it is just plain silly (saying "meow" at the end of your sentences - that caused a lot of laughter during English one day!).
- Teamwork! Each student is on a team, and they have different powers. They can protect each other when they lose health points, they can heal each other, as well as other things. It has built-in ways that the students have to think beyond themselves for the good of the team.
- Earning points in order to gain more powers, which often equates to earning more freedom or privileges in the class.
We still want to try out the "pets" and "boss battles" which are only available with the premium package.
