The Description

My students deserve to have a fully equipped classroom and an engaging space in which to learn, but I don't yet have all of the materials they will need, especially not on day one. PledgeCents allows me to keep whatever I raise, so everything that is donated will actually make a difference in our classroom.

Here is a complete list of the materials that your generous investment will help provide for my students:

Back Up Plan

I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students (pencils, paper, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons.

Second Week Update

August 13, 2017

Greetings!

We are really moving now! So far we have raised $294 in funds and an additional $200+ in goods for our class!

I'd like to take a moment to thank Mark Wilsie (Fincastle, VA) and Charles Lein (New Haven, CT) for their generous contributions to our classroom community. Your funds will go to use in just eight days!

I'd also like to take a moment to thank Sabrina Davis and Dallas Dunaway (Dallas, TX),  Ryan Lynch (Rowlett, TX), and one anonymous donor for donating books, comics, graphic novels, and magazines to our classroom library. Every day, my students will start class with 10 minutes of individualized reading of their choice. Having a great diversity of texts, fiction and non-fiction alike, will go a long way in terms of finding something for every student. As any librarian will tell you, no kid hates to read; s/he just hasn't found the right thing to read YET. If you, too, are interested in purchasing a book for my students, I've compiled a wishlist here: http://a.co/7MMxXrf. I will update this list as necessary to reflect donations made.

Finally, I'd like to thank Evin & Alex Dunn (Houston, TX), Jenna & Reece Young (Wylie, TX), and Kimberly & Nathan Lynch (Rowlett, TX) for donating school supplies directly to our class this week.

Thanks to you all, the 8th grade English Language Arts students of the Leadership Academy of Forest Oak are one giant leap closer to having a fully functioning classroom, stocked with a diverse, multi-voiced, multicultural library!

First Week Update

August 5, 2017

Hello all,

We are really moving along with this fundraiser! So far we have raised $184.00 in funds and an additional $75.00 in goods.

I want to thank Donna and Pat Murphy (Phoenix, AZ), Kimberly and Nathan Lynch (Rowlett, TX), and Dalla and Dana Lewis (Rowlett, TX) for their generous contributions to my 8th grade English Language Arts class at the Leadership Academy of Forest Oak.

In addition to the donations made through PledgeCents, I have received two donations of actual supplies from a few kind and generous classroom sponsors. I want to recognize Geoff and Nancy Lynch (Westminster, CO) and Jenna and Reece Young (Wylie, TX) for sending me a bunch of great supplies to use on Day One in the class!

Thanks to your donations, my students are that much closer to having a functioning classroom with all of the materials they need to become not only star students in English Language Arts, but scholars who are on a path to academic success and personal growth.

Thank you all for investing in our community!
