The Description

With these funds I will purchase five SamsungSeries 3 Chromebooks for student use.  Each Chromebook costs $210.

I began an internship at College View’s school library at the beginning of the fall 2016 semester to gain experience.  After talking with the school librarian, I soon realized the school did not have technology needed to teach students 21st century skills.  The Denver Public Schools 2020 plan identifies that preparing students with 21st century skills is best done investing in innovation. In order to teach students 21st century skills that will prepare them for their continued education, and eventually the workforce, schools must invest in technology.

I developed a technology improvement and purchasing plan in order to help move the school to 1:1.  The school currently owns 180 Chromebooks, which are shared between 474 students.  Two students are assigned to one Chromebook, making it difficult for students to utilize the technology when needed.  The teachers at College View participated in a school-wide survey on the technology they use in their classrooms. They answered questions about how their technology was funded, as well as new technology needed in order to teach students 21st century skills.  Chromebooks were widely identified in the survey as needed technology.

Upon developing a technology improvement and purchasing plan for the school, I met with the school principal to have her blessing to start a crowdfunding site to help raise funds for five Chromebooks.  With this money, in align with the technology purchasing plan, the school can achieve 1:1 in three years.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal through this crowdfunding site, I will raise the remaining funds by holding fundraisers at the school in order to meet this goal.
