Funding Future Scientists

The Description

When I picture a great science classroom I certainly picture plants! However, my classroom (and much of my whole school) is windowless. Because my students will go much of the day without seeing nature, I would love to bring nature inside! With these funds I will be buying a grow light for indoor plants, and a shelf to house them on. Most of these funds, however, will be going to basic classroom items, such as paper organizers, white board markers, and tape. I also hope to create a phone-charging station to encourage my high school students not to be on their phones during class.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will purchase white board markers and other basic supplies, but will hold off on the larger items until next year

About the Creator

I am a first year teacher through Teach for America at East Central High School in Tulsa, OK. I will be teaching Biology and Environmental Science, which are both near and dear to me. I am very passionate about environmental education, especially in an urban setting. It is so important that our students understand the natural world around them and how we are affecting it. Please help me bring more interactive science into our classroom!
