Help a Team of Innovators Continue to Bring Amazing Opportunities to our Students!

The Description

With these funds we will...GET2ISTE!! I am looking for everyway possible to get my team to ISTE this year. Unfortunately, our state funded title 2 funds were cut by over 75% this year leaving us with no funds for ISTE.

Our newly formed Academic Innovation team made up of media specialists, tech coaches, STEM and Digital Literacy teachers is on fire for finding creative ways to keep the students engaged in the classroom. The 21st century learner needs more from us as teachers, they need us to be innovators! I believe that the ISTE conferences allows us as teachers to continue to learn not only what new products are out there but from other innovative teachers around the world. Being able to bring back all these new ideas will allow our whole school to continue to grow in the area of technology integration and STEM as well as providing new ways to engage all learners. A few of our school's expected student outcomes are

  • Think critically, value collaboration and communication, and creatively problem solve.
  • Thoroughly prepared academically in all areas (reading, writing, listening, speaking, STEM, social studies, Bible, and the arts) for higher educational pursuits.
  • Are prepared for the practicial application of technology in the world being information and technology literate with a global prespective.

I believe that attending ISTE will help our school to achieve excellance in these outcomes that are so vital to students today.

Lastly, our plan for the 17-18 school year is to create a brand new K-4 STEM class that will be part of their weekly specials rotation. The materials and ideas provided at ISTE along with the ability to network with other STEM teachers would prepare our teachers to successfully build curriculum and materials for this new class.

As a small school, we have limited funds, meaning our students do not get to participate in the same opportunities that students at bigger schools do. This conference allows us as teachers to learn ideas on how we can be creative in offering our students similar opportunites to be all they were created to be.

Here is the breakdown in cost for fundraising for ISTE 2017

  • ISTE 2017 - $5,400.00 - This includes flights, housing, registration and food for 5 people.
  • PledgeCents Platform Fee - $284.25
  • Total - $5,685.00 (rounded up to the nearest dollar)

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will purchase...I will still renew my ISTE membership with whatever money is raise as those resources have been extremely helpful this year. I will also use the money to purchase materials for our new K-4 STEM class that is starting next year.

About the Creator

I recently became the Director of Academic Innovation at Heritage Christian School. My role is to assist teachers and students Preschool-12 grade with technology integration and STEM. In the last year I've been able to add additional class offerings as well as after school clubs for our students. I was so inspired by the ISTE conference last year and all that it had to offer as well as the community boards that I participate in weekly. Unfortunately this year our state Title 2 funding was cut by over 75% meaning we do not have the funds to go this year. I had plans to take my team of media specialists, tech coaches and our new STEM teacher this year as we continue to grow in this area so that more teachers could be inspired like I was. I am asking for help to get us there this year, as I don't want to miss out on this great learning opportunity for myself and my teachers. We have great momentum right now and I don't want to lose that by not be able to participate in conferences like ISTE that provide us with great new ideas to continue to make learning fun for all students.
