Teaching the Holocaust as History and Warning

The Description

With these funds, I will pay for travel to New York in July and Jerusalem in December to continue my studies of the Holocaust. They will be my third and fourth professional development activities. Two years ago I attended a Toli Institute seminar in Milwaukee and last summer I spent eight days in Poland touring historic sites related to the Holocaust.

Each year my students enter a local contest for Holocaust remembrance, and I have had winners in essay, poetry, and music.

When it comes to teaching the Holocaust and genocide, I delve into the psychology behind those who are perpetrators, victims, collaborators, and the righteous helpers.

By continuing my education at the Toli Conference in New York City and the Yad Vashem Conference in Jerusalem, I will learn not only more about the Holocaust and its victims, but better ways to teach it.

Back Up Plan

If we do not reach our goal I will pay my travel expenses with my own personal credit card.
