The Description

With these funds I will purchase 1 iPad Air, 1 iPad Air Case, 2 Belkin wired tablet keyboards with stands, 3 packs of stylus', and a $25 iTunes gift card.  An iPad Air will offer unique opportunities for my fifth grade students to daily review or extend a lesson or concept.  Quarterly, each student completes a writing project that requires research and successful interaction with digital media.  The iPad Air will present additional student research opportunities and navagation practice involving technology.  "Technology Time " will provide many opportunities for students to take their learning to a higher level.  For example, I foresee enrolling my students into the Khan Academy site where learners complete math and science tasks according to their mastery.  At the same time, students earn points for their work which can be exchanged for an avatar.  Aspects like this make learning fun and engaging for the students!  Common Core Standards expect students to possess 21st Century learning skills.  Creative expression, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration are vital learning skills my students need to master in order to be successful in higher education and career paths of the 21st Century.  The requested protective iPad Air case, Belkin keyboarding case, stylus', and iTunes gift card will provide essential tools to protect the iPad, teach our students keyboarding skills, interact with the screen utilizing a stylus, and purchase educational apps for student instructional purposes.

Thank you!

"Technology Time" had three generous contributors that made this project a reality!  Much and many thanks to Kohl's Department Stores, Inc. Community Relations Associates in Action Program.  A team of six employees from the Jefferson City Kohl's location volunteered their time and talents servings our fifth grade and kindergarten learning partners during our annual Learning Celebration.  They generously donated $160 towards this project!

Thank you, Walmart Community Grants Team and Facility #29!  Your donation of $250 was very kind, generous, and greatly appreciated!  I enjoyed being able to patronize Facility #29 and purchase the iPad from your location!

Thank you, PledgeCents, for the $100 matching offer valid during Teacher Appreciation Week.  Your funding offer encouraged and challenged me to develop a project that would directly involve and benefit my fifth graders!  Furthermore, your funding offer motivated me to get the word out about "Technology Time."  Thank you for believing in this project!  Your commitment and passion towards education is amazing!

With Gratitude,

Lisa Maloney
