Classroom Culture and Supplies - Learning Space

The Description

I have so many plans for my classroom! What I know will happen with these funds is an investment in creating a classroom that students want to enter each morning to engage in literature and critical thinking while also providing supplies the students' need to learn. These supplies include a bookshelf and used books purchased to create a reading nook, printed quotes from great writers that inspire, dry eraser markers for the white board, brown craft paper and edging to create dynamic spaces where students' work will be displayed.  I would also like to have supplies on the ready for any student who is not able to bring these supplies to the classroom.  These supplies will include pencils, pens, comp notebooks, wipes, tissues, folders, book bags, an endless supply of snacks in case hunger gets in the way of learning.  There is no doubt that these funds will go towards the well being and educational advancement of students!

Back Up Plan

I plan on purchasing these items by myself if I do not receive support but have a limited budget which is why your donation is so important.  I am also already looking into grants for teachers and great places to receive discounts so that I can continue to re-stock during the year and have supplies to begin if I don't receive donation - can't wait to apply for the Target grant for a field trip (oh the places we will go!).

I've completed Teach for America's summer institute and begin teaching middle school English Language Arts at the end of August. I know I will need a tremendous amount of supplies to create a classroom environment that promotes learning and growing. I also know I will need to be able to provide supplies for my students so that they always have what they need to engage in learning. All funds raised will go to classroom set up and supplies for the students. I hope you will consider contributing! There is no doubt in my mind that this is an important and worthy donation that you can make. It is an investment in me, an investment in the students, an investment in the school, and an investment in the community.
