The Description

With these funds I will purchase supplies for Family Science Night. Family Science Night is an evening program of hands-on science activities held at our school that provides an opportunity for children and their parents to work together to conduct simple, inquiry-based, age appropriate science activities. There are two primary goals: stimulate an excitement and interest in middle school science for students and parents and get parents involved in the educational process. All students are invited to attend this event with their parent(s). Every science teacher hosts a demonstration or facilitates a hands-on experiment. The science instructional specialist and science department head will purchase supplies for each teacher's experiments. It is our hope that there will be funds available to purchase refreshments because, if there is food, they will come. :) We will also need to purchase extra necessities to clean up such as trash bags, napkins, Clorox wipes, and air fresheners. Our students deserve these resources because they have an excitement for learning and a passion for experimenting while learning about the sciences. Our students are low income but still come to school everyday prepared to get away from the trials of everyday life. I am including links for the supplies we are wanting to purchase below.

-Trash bags ($3.50 for a 25-count): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-Tall-Drawstring-Kitchen-Bags-25-count/21560298

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal I will purchase as much of the supplies for the Family Science Night as possible. The most important are those things for the experiments: toothpicks, Clear Portion cups and lids, dish soap, aluminum pans, and butter knives. Still important is the cleaning products but can be donated by parents if need be.
