The Description
Hello all! As the end of the summer has finally arrived, and the school year is rapidly approaching- my teaching placement has “changed,” ha! No surprise to many of you, however I will now be accepting a position as a Pre-K Teacher! I will be working alongside a TA, helping to shape and mold the youngest minds of our Education system- Preschoolers! I am ecstatic to accept this position, and even more eager for the school year to begin. Because my position has changed drastically, I have also been able to significantly decrease our goal from from $1,500 to $600! That is awesome news for everyone!
As a Prekindergarten teacher, a great deal of my focus will remain on providing an appropriate environment for my students and their families as they come to visit their growing children- and the future leaders of our country!
Placing a focus on the environment will allow me to ensure that students and their families feel both comfortable and welcome upon entering our classroom! This will be done by placing a focus on Multicultural decor, ensuring that families of all backgrounds will get a glimpse of their culture whether they are dropping their child off for the day, or hanging around to explore this new environment with their incoming preschooler!
I also plan to revitalize my students literacy area. Rather than giving them a small inconspicuous corner in the room, to begin indulging in pre-literacy, I plan to make their reading corner a “Must-come-see!” This will be done by providing students with child-safe beanbags- excellent for indulging in what will be some of their first exposures to books. This area will be comfortable and suitable for up to four children at a time. Along with my TA, we will ensure that these books are often rotated and geared towards the current time of the year, seasons, activities, and the shifting interests of our students.
As you can all see, I cannot wait to begin this journey and to meet my young scholars of the 2017-2018 school year. Thank you all for reading and of course- investing!
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal, I will purchase as many materials as possible. I will prioritize the materials that are most essential to students (pencils, paper, etc.) as they are the most important to ensuring that students can participate in daily lessons. As the school year progresses, I will continue to seek grants and host fundraisers for and with my students as we acquire all of the tools required for their continued success.
About the Creator

My name is Zaynah Jawwaad, and I will be beginning my career as an educator this September of 2017! I have just received Bachelors Degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Psychology. I am absolutely fascinated by the art of teaching, as well as the works of the young, maturing mind. This year, I will be taking on the role of a PreK teacher. This will allow me to fully indulge in General Education and introduce my students to a whirl of topics- including, but certainly not limited to- reading, writing, and math! I am extremely eager to meet my students and excited to say the least, to embark upon this new, thrilling journey with young, inquisitive leaders of our future!
