With these funds volunteer staff will take 10-12 students on trips to give them opportunities they would not otherwise get. Many students experience these opportunities with family members; however, the selected students don't get these opportunities and we want all students to have experiences that can help bridge them to more fun learning opportunities through visiting various places.    

The idea to start this program came two years ago as I listened to many students struggle to come up with ideas to write about something they did over the weekend or summer vacation because they didn't leave their house or go experience seemingly normal things that other students were. I thought, we need to give these children more experiences, thus the beginning of Bridge Builder. We run this program on donations and grants. All staff members involved are volunteers and enjoy helping to give these students opportunities.

In the past some trips have included: Drive Basketball Game, A Day at Lake Michigan, Visiting Museums and Nature Centers, Visiting a Dairy Farm and learning how to make homemade ice cream, Blueberry Picking, Going on Nature Walks, and being creative with Art. The funds help pay for cost of admissions and lunches. The student that have been involved in this program are so appreciative and it is the highlight of their summer or weekend.

We look forward to continuing this program and providing students with great opportunities to see new exciting things.
