The Description

With these funds I will buy each student participant of Classroom Champions at Oak Grove Elementary School a T-shirt, folder, bracelet and pencil so they may feel even more connected to their school/classmates and the Classroom Champions community during the 2019-20 school year and beyond.

Back Up Plan

Even if we do not reach the goal of total funding for 150 students, the money will help lower the cost for program participants/ our school in purchasing these items. The school PTO and/or the parents of participants may be able to cover the additional funds that are not raised through this fundraiser.  Any amount of money that is raised through this campaign will go directly to paying for student T-shirts, folders, bracelets and pencils to further the impact of their participation in the Classroom Champions program for the 2019-20 school year.

We had a great year!

May 12, 2020

Thanks to everyone who donated to this cause for this school year.  The amount of money raised here allowed us to sponsor 80 kids!!  We had 150 kids participate in the program, receiving monthly video lesson from an amazing gold-medal Paralympic athlete mentor and former Navy SEAL Dan Cnossen.  The kids wore their shirts during the Live Chat video call both in the classroom this fall and online on ZOOM from home this Spring.  Having a shirt meant feeling like part of the team!  Thanks again to my parents, friends and colleagues who donated.  Your support truly made a difference! The future is terribly uncertain, but we hope to get as many kids involved again next school year.

About the Creator

I am a specialist teacher for English Language Development at a Title 1 school in Medford, Oregon. I am passionate about integrating the teaching of social emotional skills throughout engaging classroom learning activities. I believe that all students need caring adults who believe in them. All students deserve a high quality education in order to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and creators now and in the future. I am a Classroom Champions Teacher Ambassador. Classroom Champions is a mentorship program that pairs my classroom with an elite athlete mentor who builds relationships with the students through technology and provides video lessons to help teach important social-emotional/ life skills. I am currently teaching English Language Development in grades K-5 and am seeking funding to help engage my students in a service learning project that will help better our community.
