The Description

With these funds I will develop a program where 5th grade students will teach 1st grade students how to build a computer and start coding. The main objective is to teach empathy to the 5th grade students. As I provide training for the 5th grade students, I will review best practices for teachers to connect with students. I will teach the 5th grade students how to read the vocal, facial, and physical expressions of the 1st grade students. It is my goal for every 5th grade student to train one 1st grade student regardless of abilities or disabilities.

As a teacher, one thing that I am responsible for is helping my students build practical skills that will allow them to be successful in the digital age. This means that I try to provide as many opportunities as possible for my students to be creators, designers, and engineers. This is why I am looking to integrate Kano computer kits (10 computer kits) into our classroom this year.

With Kano, students are able to build their own personal computer by following a story. After their computer has been built, students are then able to learn to code on the computer that they built. Finally, my students are then able to become creators and make art, games, and music by working with other students.

This is an amazing opportunity for my students to build their own computer and learn how to code. This not only provides them with a way to practice hands on problem solving and critical thinking, it is also laying a foundation of skills that they then can build on later. Your generous investment brings this idea to life. There is no investment that is too small, and if you are not able to invest, please consider sharing this on Facebook and Twitter.
