The Description

On Monday I start teaching 6th grade math at KIPP Comienza in Huntington Park. Your generous support will help fund:

1) startup materials for the classroom and students

2) practice materials and entry fees for my students on the FIRST Lego League Robotics Team and

3) planters, seeds, and tools for the community garden I am starting, as well as materials for lesson plans about environmental justice. 

 

Back Up Plan

My back-up plan is not so much back-up as in addition to, as I plan to fundraise for these supplies throughout the year. I will work with local businesses to try to get sponsorships for the materials and the students' entry fees, and will look to find free resources as much as possible.

Hi! My name is Firuze, and I am a first year TFA Los Angeles corps member; I am teaching sixth grade math at Kipp Comienza in Huntington Park. I am passionate about empowering students traditionally underrepresented in STEM to pursue those fields and to use STEM as a means of understanding and advocating for their communities.
