Though my service in TFA has come to an end, my teaching journey has just begun! For the 18-19 school year, I will be moving closer to home to support the families in the community I grew up in. Many of the families I will be working with are recent immigrants to this country who do not speak English. My goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment in which all my students will feel comfortable to learn and grow. I know it is going to be a great year. 

One important aspect of learning at a young age is the ability to make connections between academic material and real-life connections. Most students are naturals at this skill, however it always helps to have a couple of fun experiences planned throughout the year so that students can truly see how their learning can come to life. Luckily for us, the DMV offers a plethora of museums, parks, theaters, and so much more for new students to explore.

Unfortunately, the school's budget for field trips is quite low. In years past, teachers have been limited to maybe a trip or two a year to a location that does not charge money. I hope to raise enough funds to be able to take the new preschool students on at least four unit-related trips throughout the school year. Any money donated will go directly to the cost of a field trip which includes but is not limited to: transportation costs, ticket payments, class lunches, and chaperone fees. It would be great to also be able to invite more parents to participate and not have them worry about any additional costs.
