Ms. Kaos Music Classroom

The Description

With these funds I will purchase supplies to guarantee that my students have everything they need to be successful learners in my classroom.

While I am fortunate enough to work in a school with hard-working, caring adults, and curious, motivated students, I still face many daily challenges. One of the most solvable obstacles is the need for school supplies to keep my classroom running. Every day last year, I had students tell me that they did not have a writing utensil with which to complete their classwork.

My students have also figured out that I must be buying my own paper (thanks to your generosity) because all the other teachers in the school had run out.

These funds will ensure that my students are set up for success every day, and they will help make my classroom a clean, organized, kid-friendly learning environment.  Below is a list of supplies that I need to buy for the 2017-2018 school year. Donations of any size are helpful, and if you would like to contribute any supplies directly, email me at nina.kao.16@tfacorps.org and I will send you an address. Thank you!

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, I will prioritize buying pencils, toner, and batteries, as they are the supplies that have the least availability at my school.  If I exceed my goal, the extra money will be used to buy books and magazines to provide more reading material in my classroom.

About the Creator

I am a first year music teacher with Teach for America in the Mississippi Delta. This fall, I will be teaching Choir and General Music with 9th-12th graders in a low-income area. I have aspired to be a music educator for many years, and I am thrilled to be able to do so in a community with such a rich musical history. I am excited to help my students develop the skills to understand, appreciate, and use music throughout their lives.
