The Description

The Mission statement for the SHAPE club is to empower high school students to achieve personal and professional success by providing philanthropic, leadership, career and civic opportunities.  The students researched non-profits in the Palm Beach County area for education with an emphasis on special needs children between 5-18 years of age.  A total of twelve non-profits were located and sent out an application for a $1,000.00 grant.  Of the 12 non-profits who we sent grants to, 6 of the non-profits replied.  All 6 non-profits were asked to give a 15 minute presentation on how they would use the money.  The students then voted on who to give the money to.  The students were very impressed with the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization (GCDS) and awarded the grant to them.  They have been fundraising to reach their goal.

With these funds, we will help fund the learning program at GCDS.  The funding will be used to off set there $36,000.00 budget.

GCDS helps students with down syndrome learn to be independent and successful in life.  They do this with educating not only the students but their families and the community.

The money raised will go directly toward their learning program initiative buy purchasing supplies.

Back Up Plan

If I do not meet my goal, we will use the funds raised and provide that to the organization as well as the $500.00 we have raised beforehand.
