The Description
With these funds I will...be able to provide 1/3 of all students in Kinder and First grade with daily access to iPads to ensure that their instruction meets their individualized needs. We currently have enough for some iPads in each of our 11 K-1 rooms, but not yet enough to truly meet the needs of students. We are trying to purchase 22 additional iPads (around $320 each), and students will have access to quality math and reading programs both for enrichment and intervention needs. In math, students will have a program they have access to called Dreambox (http://www.dreambox.com/), which allows students to log in to their individualized accounts and match them at their specific learning levels. Some of the reading programs that students will use both include iStation (http://www.dreambox.com/) and Raz Kids (http://www.raz-kids.com/main/Login), in English and Spanish. Both literacy programs are offered in both English and Spanish for student development on their journey as bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural students. The literacy programs allow for quality e-book read alouds and targeted lessons for all strands and components of literacy instruction.
Teachers will instruct and guide students to maximize their own personal learning in both English and Spanish through these differentiated and individualized programs. Aligned with our mission of getting our students to and through college, we will ensure that they have the necessary tools they need to further their education and make every minute count!
Back Up Plan
If I do not meet my goal...we will work to provide as many students as we are able to access their learning through technology as well as their work with their teachers in school.
